What have we been doing lately you ask? Camping, fishing, hiking, camping, hiking, fishing, and fishing. And more camping! :) On the weekend of 6/16 we went camping just the two of us at Gooseberry reservoir. We stayed 1 night and had a lot of fun fishing and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Yeah that's a s'more made with 2 chocolate chip cookies, we get crazy.
Campfire pictures! I said "smile!" and Brandon pulled this model face haha.
I was thisclose to getting in that water, it was so hot and the water was AMAZING!
Then last weekend 6/22 we went camping with our friends Dave and Amber on Friday night at Hobble Creek. There were a ton of kids playing in the river though, and we ventured to new parts of the river but didn't have any luck on Friday. It was VERY unusual because Dave and Brandon and I have all been there a few times and caught lots of fish! Oh and we set up our tent and stuff at a campsite, but then decided we wanted a different one up the road. Well the boys decided to just pick up the tent and walk it over! I cannot tell you how funny it was seeing them come up the road hauling a 5-person tent with sleeping bags in it.... oh wait, I can show you. :)
We ended up fishing till it was dark, well the boys fished until it was dark and Amber and I collected wood for the campfire and talked. :) Dave made a delicious scalloped potato dinner for us, and we had hot dogs, and for dessert Black Forest Cake! Which is as follows:
1 box Devils Food Cake or Choc. Cake Mix
1 can Sprite or Cherry Soda
1 Cherry Pie Filling
1 Hersheys Bar
Crunched Walnuts
You put the pie filling on the bottom of a greased dutch oven, then the cake mix, then pour the soda over the top of the mix and mix with the cake mix but don't touch the pie filling. Then sprinkle the top with chocolate pieces and walnuts. Then cook over fire for about 20-30 minutes depending on your fire. It was delish!!! Next time though I would do 2 pie fillings, and maybe more chocolate pieces on top, You could even just use chocolate chips I think. Here is a pic, but it was much more yummy than the pictures look:
And we found a little snakey snake, he was cute:
Brandon caught 2 fish on Saturday, so we didn't go home completely defeated!
Amber found a HUGE disabled butterfly... well we don't know if it was disabled but it didn't really seem able to fly. Poor thing!
Don't worry that I'm at least 3 shades lighter than Amber, STORY OF MY LIFE!! Slather me in spray tan and I'm still pale. It's a curse!
Dave teaching Amber how to fish, aren't they adorable!?
(I know this is a long post, if you're still reading, I'm VERY suprised.)
AND on Sunday (6/24) we took a little day trip to the Uintas to Crystal Lake and Washington Lake. It was SERIOUSLY beautiful. I kept taking pictures and thinking WOW this could be a postcard. It only took us a little over an hour to get there. Brandon was fishing and got a little audience, a man with his kids who were SO excited to watch Brandon fish. When he caught one they all came over to see it, they loved it!
I picked a bunch of wildflowers, they were so pretty! But the bumblebees up there are ginormous and I think they got mad at me.
See, Postcard!! We each caught a bunch of fish, I know I caught at least 6...
A tiger trout I caught that was so big!!! I love that you can see Brandon in the background haha.
So as you can see, this is pretty much what we have been doing lately! How can we not enjoy the beautiful places in Utah that we live so close to? This weekend Brandon is going on a little backpacking trip in the Uintas with some friends, and I will be hanging out with my family and attending my darling niece Lilee's blessing on Sunday!
Oh and the weekend after that we will be going on our Annual family camping trip in Beaver, so even MORE camping!! Haha, but we love and and we're really looking forward to it.
Hope everyone is having a great summer so far!
